Arrive Guwahati onward Kaziranga (no jungle activity on day of arrival). Overnight at Kaziranga.
Day 2: Safari Tour package to Kaziranga Wildlife National ParkAt 5.30 am enjoy the Elephant safari ride of one hour and then return for breakfast. After breakfast onward tour to Western range, It takes 25 minutes by jeep to reach the entrance of this western Range. The route traverses the southwest portion of the wildlife park. This range has maximum short grass areas and is the optimum habitat for Rhino and Water Buffalo. Representative perennial ox-bow lakes surrounded by marshy Haemarthia compressa stands can be seen. Part of the drive is also through Low Alluvial Savannah Woodland. Colonization of grassland by Lagerstroemia parviflora can be seen. A round of the entire circuit is around 20 km. High herbivore densities around these wetlands are characteristic of the habitat Birding mainly grassland and water birds as also raptors, swamp Francolin, Chestnut-capped Babbler, Blackfaced and Yellow Breasted Buntings (possibility) Finn's Weaver is also possible among commoner Baya and Black-Throated . For rhinos Western Range and central Range will be fruitful to visit. Return for lunch and visit the Central range at 2 pm. This drive covers central region of the natioan park. It is an ideal introduction to the park and its ecology as the route passes through the entire spectrum of habitat types prevalent in the area. There is a possibility of sighting elephants as well as the other mega herbivores. Yarding place of Swamp Deer. The process of plant succession can be observed at various seral stages. Birding in a wide range of habitats. Birding look for look for Pallas Fish Eagle. Lesser Adjutant, Swamp Francolin, Spotbilled Pelican etc. Also other waterbirds such as Barheaded Goose, Grey headed Lapwing, Blacknecked Stork etc. Part of the game drive is also through woodlands (key species: khaleej pheasant, Himalayan Flameback, streak throated woodpecker several species of parakeet, Greenish and Inornate Warblers, Blue-bearded Bee-eater etc Good sunset pictures. Takes 15 minutes to reach the entry point.
Day 3: Kaziranga - Shillong Tour PackageBefore breakfast proceed to the Eastern (Agaratuli) Range. Situated towards the eastern part of the kaziranga wildlife national park. The area is excellent for bird watching. Includes nesting of the globally threatened Pallas's Fish Eagle and a colony of Spot-billed Pelicans. Migrant waterfowl may be observed at Sohola Beel. Various woodland birds can be seen along the drive through very scenic Dillenia Swamp Forest. Elephants may be encountered, as well Water Buffalo and Swamp Deer. Takes 40 minutes to reach. Tourist route approximately 26 km. Have a heavy breakfast and leave for Shillong. It will take roughly 7 hours to get to Shillong with stops. Enroute Jorabat (3 and half hours)where there are many eating joints. Jorabat to Shillong is roughly 100 km and it is mainly hill road. Overnight stay at Shilllong.
Day 4: Shillong sightseeing TourLeisurely breakfast onward first visit Donbosco Musuem which is the best tribal artifact museum of North east India. It is located at a stone's throw distance from Yallana. After this you can go onward to Bara bazaar, market with traditional wares. known to be the largest market in the Northeast, stalls mostly run by Khasi women. There is not much to buy for the purpose of modernity in shopping but good quality natural honey is available. You can skip Barabazar make an excursion to Smit. The Smit is the cultural center of the Khyrim Syiemshim of the Khasi people. Here stands the Ingsad residence of the Queen of the Khyrim, where the timber-work done without using nails. The Queen mother is the high priest of Hima Khyrim (read Khyrim state). She is the custodian of the rites and rituals of the Khasi religion. This place needs a short stop and the area is very quiet and rural. The famous Nongkrem dance is held here annually in November. While returning from Smit Shillong Peak (alt 1965 m) can be visited for a photo-stop panoramic view of the Shillong plateau where the present township has developed. There will be time for a stopover at Elephant falls before returning for a late lunch in one of the many good restaurant in police Bazar area. After lunch, some free time will be available before proceeding to the daily traditional archery competition where different Khasi clans participate. Bets are legal 1:80 odds (most lucrative odds in the world)
Day 5: Shillong - Cherrapunjee - ShillongCherra day excursion tour. Take a early breakfast and depart for Cherrapunjee 52 km. En route Myllien (16 km from Shillong, alt 1720 m) is a village of blacksmiths; next a photo stop after 13 km a magnificent view of deep gorge at Mawkdok valley (alt 1820m), onward 11 km before Sohrarim (old Sohra i.e. Cherra i.e. old Cherapunjee alt 1680 m) view megaliths. Ram Krishna Mission was established in 1932, situated on the summit of a hill (2 km before reaching Cherrapunjee) it has an interesting museum with Khasi/Garo/Jaintia artefacts. By- passing the main Cherra bazaar, proceed to view the Nohkalikai Falls, may not be dry and you may see some trickle. Then return to main Cherra and view the Mawsmai limestone caves. The limestone cave is narrow and the less adventurous can view stalactites from little inside the entrance. However for 50 metres it is electrified (generator run) entry fee Rs 5 per person, camera fees extra. A visit to the Met office is interesting to see rainfall records. Cherra-s average annual rainfall is 1107 cm. (rainfall measured at 8.30 am to 11.30 am) If Nohsngithiang Falls is not dry it cascades beautifully on to the Bangladesh plains (the plains of Bangladesh can be viewed on a clear day). Return to Shillong. Night stay at Shillong.
Day 06: Shillong - GuwahatiMorning after breakfast checkout from the hotel & transfer to the Guwahati Airport to catch the flight for your onwards journey.
